Opposites Attract

You’ve heard the saying “Opposites Attract”. Well, in the world of speed dating you will have just enough time to find your soulmate and begin to question how you ever fell for them in the first place…

This game takes Speed Mingle to a whole new level. It is best played with older participants who understand the meaning of the words listed.

Object: Identify your exact opposite personality.

Number of Participants: 20 – 60

Area: Half-basketball court.

Set-up: Print up and cut out two sets of the Traits at the bottom of this post. Split the group in half, naming one side the “A’s” and the other the “B’s”. Arrange them in a circle-inside-a-circle pattern so it will be easy for one group to shift clockwise when time is called. Distribute only one trait per participant from one side and a matching trait per participant on the other side. Traits at the top are the “A’s”, those on the bottom are the “B’s”.

How To Play: On “GO”, participants are given 20 seconds to act out their traits to each other. So, they have only about 10 seconds each before time is called and the inner circle of people shifts clockwise. They may talk but they may not use the word of their trait in their speech. For example: A Happy person may not say “I’m so happy!” They may use gestures or any other action that demonstrates their trait. When “SHIFT” is called, the inner circle rotates one person clockwise and the mingling starts again. Once all of the inner circle has mingled with all of the outer circle, players are asked to match up with their exact opposite, i.e. their soulmate. Winners will guess correctly.
