Football Toss Through Hoop

This drill will help participants improve their aim and strengthen their arm.

Ideal Equipment: Footballs, hula hoop, jump rope, pylons, monkey bars or other playground apparatus

Area: size of a volleyball court depending on age and ability of participants

Set Up: Hang hula hoop from playground apparatus using jump rope. make sure it is tied so it doesn’t blow around in the wind. hang it so it offers a target to throw the ball through. Set down pylons as the limit lines from which participants will throw the balls.

Objective: Throw the football through the hula hoop as many times in a row as you can.

How To Play: Have participants stand behind limit lines to throw football. Participants who are waiting for their turn should stand to the side and out of sight of the thrower to avoid distraction. Play one of two ways: a) best out of ten throws or b) if you make it through, you get another turn until you miss.
