Thunder

This is as active as they come. If you have a group of kids who love to play basketball, this is for them. This is another one of those games that the kids want to play day in and day out.

Materials: Two basketballs, one hoop, a free-throw line, at least 8 players.

Area: Half of a basketball court.

Objective: Be the last player in by passing the players in front of you.

How To Play:
Line everyone up at the top of the key. The first person in line starts at the free throw line. All first shots take place at the free throw line. All subsequent shots take place from anywhere.

Once the person at the free throw has taken their shot, the person behind them can take theirs from the free throw line. If the person behind, makes a shot before the person in front, it eliminates the person in front of them. When a  person gets eliminated, they must step off the court behind the out of bounds line. The only way they can get back in is if they catch an airball. If they do catch an airball, the person who shot it is out.

If the person in front makes a shot before the person behind them, they go to the end of the line at the top of the key and wait for their turn again. Play continues until all have been eliminated.

Usually, when it gets down to two players, the tension is high. Remember that all first shots must be made from the free throw line. If that first shot is missed, it gives the person behind you a chance to make their free throw while you are chasing your ball. You want to get your ball as quickly as possible and try to get a lay-up in so you can get back at the free throw line and put the pressure on the person in front of you.

Some great strategies have been developed for this game such as knocking the other person’s ball out of the way with your ball.
